Frozen shoulder (the commonly used term for
adhesive capsulitis) is a painful condition that
can also limit arm movement on the affected side of the body. It is probably
the result of an inflammatory process that causes the capsule surrounding the
shoulder joint to thicken and contract. As a result, the upper arm bone has
less space in which to move. Symptoms typically begin with pain that worsens
when you move your arm. Eventually the pain lessens but the range of motion in
the affected arm decreases, preventing you from raising it overhead or rotating
it outward. Such ordinary activities as reaching into the back seat of a car
and even driving (particularly if your car has a manual transmission) can
become difficult.
Frozen shoulder will often resolve gradually
without intervention, but this can take many months (up to years). The pain
associated with shoulder movement is often relieved by use of ordinary
anti-inflammatory drugs; in severe cases, steroids may be used temporarily.
Physical therapy, based on stretching or range-of-motion exercises for the
shoulder may hasten the improvement considerably and are the current standard
therapy. Chinese medical interventions, especially acupuncture, have been
claimed to be helpful.
If you suffer from frozen shoulder, acupuncture can
free frozen shoulder naturally and with no adverse side effects. The sooner the
treatment begins, the quicker the frozen shoulder frees. If you would like to
